Reduced Communication Frequency

When the reduced communication frequency option is enabled, G8 attempts to establish a network connection only at scheduled intervals, set in the configuration profile.

After G8 establishes a successful network connection, it stays connected to Blackline Live as long as needed to upload stored data. If the device cannot establish a network connection within 5 minutes of attempting, it returns to the reduced communication frequency state and retries at the next scheduled interval.

G8 devices set to reduced communication frequency operate offline whenever they cannot connect to a network. In regions with poor network coverage, the reduced communication frequency may help conserve G8's battery and increase device up-time.
Note: You can configure G8 connection-attempt intervals in 1-hour increments for up to 24 hours. For more information, see Enabling Reduced Communication Frequency.
Note: At each connection interval, G8 attempts to connect for 5 minutes. This cannot be modified.
Important: When a high-urgency notification event occurs, G8 bypasses the configured interval and immediately retries connecting to Blackline Live. If network connectivity is unavailable, G8 stores the high-urgency notification and uploads it once connected to a network.
